Great Weight Loss Tips – Best Detox for Weight Loss

0

The best detox for weight loss may begin with eliminating food taste enhancers from your diet. Technically called excitotoxins, they are a dangerous group of neurotoxins masquerading as food taste enhancers. There should be considerable concern and alarm by the general public due to the unknowing consumption of these additives. If considering the best detox for weight loss, start by avoiding excitotoxins such as MSG and aspartame.

Monosodium glutamate, also known as MSG, has been proven to cause weight gains and obesity in lab animals by damaging the appetite regulation center in the area of the brain called the hypothalamus. MSG, causes “leptin resistance”, essentially overruling leptin’s signals that control hunger.

Excitotoxins [excitatory neuro-transmitters] come as the latest assault on the body in the form of readily available aspartame, used in very visible products such as NutraSweet, Equal, etc. This chemical is consumed by over 100 million people in the United States and is in many products that children consume, such as diet soda, light yogurt, Flintstone vitamins, baked goods, puddings, and Winterfresh gum. Its partner and predecessor MSG, is in almost every processed food including bagged and frozen products.

Perhaps even more alarming is that these two popular additives appear connected to such horrors as brain cancer, stroke, high blood pressure, Parkinson’s disease, Huntington’s disease, and Alzheimer’s disease, and premature death.

Shortly after World War II, chemists who discovered MSG (monosodium glutamate) were able to create another compound, known as hydrolyzed vegetable protein. These early taste enhancers are in a family called excitotoxins and are a threat to neurological development. The seriousness of these common additives used by the major food manufacturers can be understood by reading “Excitotoxins – The Taste That Kills” by Dr Russell L. Blaylock. All of these chemicals stimulate the taste cells in the tongue; thereby enhancing the taste of whatever food it is added to. Low fat foods are often tasteless, so food manufacturers add various excitotoxins to manufactured foods to help encourage the physiological response of desire through taste and smell.

Aspartame, as a substitute for MSG (Monosodium glutamate is still in major use today), was discovered in 1965 by Searle chemist Jim Schlatter while developing this drug for another application (he noted its sweetness). Although approved by the FDA, more complaints are received concerning this product than any other, and has been known to cause headaches, nausea, vision problems, seizures and cancer.

Dr. Russell Blaylock, M.D., Neurosurgeon, an expert in this field, continually receives complaints from pilots about seizures, cardiac problems, vision loss, vertigo, confusion and disorientation triggered by the use of aspartame (NutraSweet/Equal/Spoonful).

Public research offers a reliable view of the spectrum of complaints in post investigative reports, position papers, disinformation by manufacturers and personal consumer knowledge surrounding these complaints.

Background: Aspartame is a molecule made by joining two amino acids together, which makes it a protein fragment. That particular protein breaks down into formaldehyde, a known carcinogen, and methanol (wood alcohol), which is also a toxin capable of causing blindness. An additional by-product, phenylalanine is known [at elevated levels in the brain], to cause seizures. The likelihood increases under hypoglycemic conditions. It is well known that hypoglycemia greatly magnifies the excitotoxic effects increasing the likelihood of mental confusion and disorientation. The association of cardiac arrhythmia and sudden death linked to the excitation and over stimulation of the hypothalamus is getting a lot of attention.

The brain receives the same blood that flows through the body, except that an ingenious blood barrier prevents certain high concentrations of chemicals to get in. For example, high concentrations of neurotransmitter dopamine, can lead to schizophrenia, and another, glutamate, would do serious harm to the brain and spinal cord if not for some of the blocking properties of the blood brain barrier. Unfortunately, the body’s blood barrier cannot defend against this special molecule.

The ingredients “spice” and “natural flavor” can indicate the presence of MSG. The natural plant sweetener stevia is a good alternative. If looking at the best detox for weight loss, then I recommend first, avoiding the various excitotoxins masquerading as food taste enhancers.
